Our schools has a strong commitment to sustaining our environment.
We are very proud of the eco credentials of our school building and our children will learn about ways that we can have a positive impact on the sustainability of our planet. We have plans for some exciting community projects such as developing our school grounds to include a forest school area ; places to grow fruit, vegetables and plants and places to enjoy learning outside of the classroom.
We also have an Eco Committee set up of children and staff within the school. They meet regularly to discuss issues and share ideas on sustainability and how we can be more eco-friendly. They, along with the rest of the pupils in school, are helping us work towards gaining our Ec0 Schools Award.

Eco Team Achievements
Our Eco Team has been working incredibly hard this year to make our school and community greener, wilder, and more sustainable. Here are some of the fantastic projects they’ve led so far:
🌱 Creating Habitats for Wildlife Pupils have designed and built new bug hotels and hedgehog habitats to encourage more biodiversity around our school grounds. They also made bird feeders to support local bird species throughout the year.
🌳 Planting Endangered Elm Trees In partnership with the Winchester Rotary Club, the Eco Team helped plant endangered Elm Trees as part of a national conservation effort. Each tree was given an inspirational name — includingHope — chosen by the children.
🧹 Community Litter Picking The team took part in a community litter pick around Kings Barton, helping to keep our local area clean and showing pride in the place we live.
⚡ Eco Day: A Whole‑School Challenge During our special Eco Day, all staff switched off electricity for an hour to raise awareness of energy use. Every pupil also planted a seed to take home, encouraging families to grow something of their own.
🌼 Growing and Gardening The Eco Team has been busy planting vegetables and bee‑friendly flowers in our new planters — which were kindly reused from Cala Homes. These growing spaces are already attracting pollinators and helping pupils learn about sustainable food.
🌍 Cut Your Carbon Campaign As part of the national Cut Your Carbon Campaign, our school saved an impressive1858.02 kg CO₂e. This achievement shows the power of small daily actions when our whole community works together.
