Meet the Team
Early Years Teachers
Hello everyone. Having spent many years teaching across Key Stage 1 and in Early Years I am passionate about children having a positive and happy start to their school life and developing a love for learning in a caring and engaging environment. I believe in capturing the children’s interests and providing memorable, purposeful experiences and an exciting hook into learning. I love seeing the spark of excitement in children’s eyes and the buzz around the classroom when children are engaged, enthusiastic and totally immersed in their learning. I live locally with my husband and two young children and we enjoy getting out and about on all sorts of adventures together come rain or shine. We particularly love a beach day and walks in the woods. I love children’s books and I hope you do too as we will be reading lots; my favourite time of the day is story time. I also love taking learning outdoors so don’t forget your wellies and waterproofs!
Hello I am Mrs Hellings. I am an experienced teacher who has been teaching for 17 years across Key Stage 1 and in Early Years. I have a passion for providing a stimulating, engaging and enjoyable experience for all children in school. I love to see the pride in children when they have achieved something that they have found tricky or mastered a new skill. The smile on their faces still makes me emotional even after all these years in the classroom! It really is the most amazing job in the world! I hope your children will feel the care and love I try to give within the classroom. It is so important to me that children feel secure and cared for.
When not at school I am kept very busy with my husband and three children. We love to be active and are often found swimming, camping, visiting forests and parks! My older children and I love to cuddle up and watch a bit of Strictly Come Dancing when that is on too! I am also just beginning to start running again after a little break. I am hoping to run a half marathon soon so this is my own little goal! I look forward to seeing you at Barton Farm soon.
Year 1 Teacher
I am excited to be the Year 1 teacher at Barton Farm Primary Academy. I have over 13 years experience teaching in primary schools, including another school in our trust, Wellow Primary. I am passionate about making children’s learning enjoyable, fostering their curiosity and developing independence. Being active and using the outdoors is something I incorporate into as much of our learning as possible, nurturing the children’s health and well-being.
In my free time, I am busy with my family, including my two children. I am a keen runner, regularly taking part or volunteering at parkrun, as well as other local races. I also enjoy reading, cooking and art and craft activities.
My name is Mrs Keogh and I can’t wait to start at Barton Farm Primary Academy. I am passionate about working with children have spent the last 3 years being in charge of all things admin at an inner city primary school with some 660 children in Southampton. I’m married with two grown up sons who have certainly kept me busy while they were growing up. I love being in the great outdoors and enjoy walking, gardening and going to the beach. When the weather isn’t so nice I keep myself busy with arts, crafts and sewing. The school is looking amazing and I am so excited about meeting you all and being able to see the children flourish during their time with us.
Learning Support Assistant
I’m really looking forward to getting to know you all! I’ve been working at a preschool with 2-4 year olds, so you will all seem quite big to me. It’s going to be so exciting to be in a brand new school together, learning and having fun. I am married and have two grown up children. When I was younger I travelled a lot and lived on a ship for a while. Then I worked in an office in London and Basingstoke using my French for a long time but after I had my own children I realised that I really enjoy helping others to learn and grow so I started working with children. I love kayaking, cooking and adventure stories. What do you love? Do come and tell me when we see each other at school in very soon.

I also worked as a co-teacher in kindergarten, whilst living in Virginia. During my last post I worked across Early Years and KS1 as a HLTA, plus supervisor of the after school club. I continued to work in Early Years throughout the pandemic. In my spare time, I love to cook, craft and be creative and really enjoy woodland walks with my children and being in my garden. I love to visit Hilliers Arboretum. I do hope you are keeping well and have had a wonderful summer.
